 | ATLANTIC ENSEMBLE PLAYS RUGGIERO'S STRING MUSIC AT MICHIGAN STATE - OCTOBER 10, 2010 | The Atlantic Ensemble, lead by violinist Wei Tsun Chang, will perform the Michigan premiere of Charles Ruggiero's quartet for violin, viola, cello, and piano, INTIMATE RECOLLECTIONS, that the Ensemble commissioned.
Also on the program will be Ruggiero's Collage-1912, and the world premiere of the string version of Ruggiero's STRAYHORN, a concert arrangement of songs and instrumental pieces by Billy Strayhorn, Duke Ellington's close artistic collaborator for a quarter of a century.
Members of the Atlantic Ensemble are Wei Tsun Chang, violin, Seanad Chang, viola, Kirsten Cassel, Cello, and Jennifer McGuire, piano. Clarinetist Cassie Lee will join members of the Atlantic Ensemble for the performance of Ruggiero's Collage-1912.

| CHARLES RUGGIERO AT TENNESSEE TECH UNIVERSITY - SEPTEMBER 2010 | Charles Ruggiero will be giving a masterclass, lecture, and a concert (played by The Atlantic Ensemble, lead by violinist Wei Tsun Chang), at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tennessee on September 27, 2010.
The Atlantic Ensemble will perform several of Charles Ruggiero's compositions, including, INTIMATE RECOLLECTIONS, a piano quartet that the Ensemble commissioned.
| NOVEMBER 18, 2010 PERFORMANCE OF RUGGIERO'S CONCERTO FOR ALTO SAXOPHONE | Saxophonist Joseph Lulloff and Michigan State University's Musique 21 contemporary music ensemble, conducted by Raphael Jimenez, will perform Charles Ruggiero's BOPPISH BLUE TINGED: CONCERTO FOR ALTO SAXOPHONE AND LARGE CHAMBER ENSEMBLE at Michigan State University on November 18, 2010.

| RUGGIERO'S TRIO FOR SAXOPHONE, BASSOON, AND PIANO | Charles Ruggiero's new trio for saxophone, bassoon, and piano, CHOBIM, a composition written in honor of Frédéric Chopin and Antonio Carlos Jobim, will be given its world premiere by Joseph Lulloff, Michael Kroth, and Deborah Moriarty in the coming season.

| WORLD PREMIERE OF RUGGIERO'S CONCERTO FOR ALTO SAXOPHONE> | Saxophonist Joseph Lulloff and Michigan State University's Musique 21 contemporary music ensemble, conducted by Raphael Jimenez, gave the world premiere of Charles Ruggiero's BOPPISH BLUE TINGED: CONCERTO FOR ALTO SAXOPHONE AND LARGE CHAMBER ENSEMBLE at Michigan State University' College of Music on April 9, 2010.
This concerto is the second in a series of Ruggiero compositions for Musique 21. On April 6, 2009, Maestro Jimenez and Musique 21 gave the premiere of Ruggiero's DIG 2: From Tunes My Grandmother Heard, which, like the new concerto, employes the Musique 21 ensemble's full complement of 17 performers.
| ATLANTIC ENSEMBLE'S PREMIERE RUGGIERO'S INTIMATE RECOLLECTIONS | On February 15, 2010, The Atlantic Ensemble, lead by violinist Wei Tsun Chang, performed the world premiere of Charles Ruggiero's quartet for violin, viola, cello, and piano, INTIMATE RECOLLECTIONS, that the Ensemble commissioned.

| JONATHAN NICHOL'S LECTURE/RECITAL PROGRAM ON THE MUSIC OF CHARLES RUGGIERO | Saxophonist Jonathan Nichol (DMA candidate in saxophone performance) gave the world premiere of the saxophone/piano version of Charles Ruggiero's CONCERTO FOR SOPRANO SAXOPHONE AND ORCHESTRA on his final DMA lecture-recital program.
The other work featured on this recital was Ruggiero's STRAYHORN, a concert arrangement of compositions by Billy Strayhorn.

| RUGGIERO'S STRAYHORN ARRANGEMENT IS PUBLISHED | Since its Carnegie Hall premiere and AUR CD release in 2001, Ruggiero's STRAYHORN has been performed at international, national, and regional conferences by Joseph Lulloff and Jun Okada and by Jonathan and Jon Nichol numerous times. Until recently, though, copyright restrictions have prevented distribution of STRAYHORN. However, due to the persistent efforts of Ron Keezer, head of RGM, STRAYHORN has been published.

Please note: STRAYHORN (duration ca. 14 minutes) requires some improvisation on the part of the saxophonist, but the piano part is fully notated and does not call for any improvisation.
